For those who haven’t heard of it; Eurostars is a collaborative programme where Innoviris participates and commit budgets together with funding agencies from 31 countries (most European countries +Canada, South Korea and South Africa).
It is a joint funding programme dedicated to R&D performing SME and it aims at funding small sized consortium (usually 2 to 5 partners) to develop new product, service or process that will be put on the market shortly after the end of the project (max 2 years after the completion of the project). The classic Eurostars project is a project between 2 or 3 SMEs developing together a new product and commercializing it within a year after the end of the project.
All technological projects are accepted (bottom-up approach, no thematic restriction) as long as they don’t have military goals. SMEs are therefore free to propose a tailor-made project for their development strategy. Moreover the national/regional funding rules apply which can make it easier for enterprises.
Another very important element is the very high success rate. Since 2014, around 25-30% of the introduced projects were funded. If I only consider the projects having a higher score than the minimum quality threshold, 90% of projects were funded (most countries provide enough funding to cover most of the positively evaluated projects).
