One of the novelties of Horizon 2020 is the full-scale pilot 'Fast Track to Innovation' instrument aiming to speed up the time from idea to market and to increase the participation of industry, SMEs and first time applicants.
This scheme is open for application until 2016. Continuation of the Fast Track to Innovation beyond 2016 will depend on the results of an in-depth evaluation of the pilot scheme.
Two conditions are required to be eligible to the Fast Track to Innovation :
• Proposals have to be submitted by consortia comprising between three and five legal entities established in at least three different EU Member States or countries associated to Horizon 2020 ;
• Actions funded under the pilot are to be "industry-driven"
It is eligible in any technology field across the Societal Challenges and Leadership in Industrial Technologies pillar.
Its main features are:
• funding rate of 70 % ;
• bottom-up driven logic ;
• continuously open calls with three cut-off dates per year ;
• time to grant not exceeding 6 months.
