Inducement prizes are monetary rewards following a contest. The reward won't take into account costs necessary to achieve the result: prizes are awarded on the basis of the results irrespective of the costs disbursed.

The main goal of inducement prizes is to offer a financial reward for developing a solution to societal or technological challenges that have not yet been met. Each contestant is free to submit a project that most effectively meet a defined challenge.

With Horizon 2020 inducement prizes are named Horizon Prizes. They cover differnet areas of activities; from “materials for clean air” to “better use of antibiotics”. Find here current Horizon prizes with conditions and requirements.

There is also a European Prize for Women Innovators, celebrating women who have benefitted from EU funding related to R&I and who have combined their scientific excellence with an aptitude for business in setting up innovative enterprises and brought innovations to the market. www.ec.euroa.eu/women-innovators
