I.  HORIZON 2020 - R&I Funding 

Horizon 2020 is the 2014-2020 EU funding programme for Research and Innovation. It covers the whole research and innovation value chain, from big international collaborative research projects to smaller projects with a clear view on the market. Thematic work programmes set the priority topics for 2 years and every year calls for proposals are open for these pre-defined research and innovation topics. For topics falling under the SME instrument or the Fast Track to Innovation, calls for proposals are continously open with 3 or 4 cut-off dates per year.

 

Under Horizon 2020, Health stakeholders are addressed mostly in the work Programmes of the following Societal Challenges:

The structure of the Work Programme: UNDERSTANDING HEALTH, WELL-BEING AND DISEASE, PREVENTING DISEASE, TREATING AND MANAGING DISEASES, ACTIVE AGEING AND SELF-MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH, METHODS AND DATA, HEALTH CARE PROVISION AND INTEGRATED CARE, and COORDINATION ACTIVITIES.

EUROSTARS-2

EUROSTARS is a transnational funding scheme from the EUREKA Programme. The Active and Assistive Living (AAL) programme funds projects in public-private partnership in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) for active and healthy ageing since 2008. The challenge for the AAL 2016 Call for proposals of the AAL Programme will be: “Living well with dementia. The contribution of ICT to integrated solutions for enabling the wellbeing of people living with dementia and their communities”.

The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) is Europe's largest public-private initiative aiming to speed up the development of better and safer medicines for patients. IMI supports collaborative research projects and builds networks of industrial and academic experts in order to boost pharmaceutical innovation in Europe. IMI is a joint undertaking between the European Union and the pharmaceutical industry association EFPIA.

IMI has launched its 6th Call for proposals under IMI 2, with topics on Big data (Alzheimer's disease and cancer), respiratory infection, and medicines safety.
