Meet & Exchange Workshop: Get Inspired by Mentoring & Twinning Practices of NCP Networks
Background and content: Every National Contact Point has once been newly appointed: learning the hard and soft skills required to conduct this job can be quite overwhelming.
Once experienced, habits and reflexes can reduce our capacity to question our working ways and adapt to a changing environment.
Learning the job of NCP and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and knowhow between experienced and less experienced NCPs can be realised in many ways: induction programme within a local team, on-the-spot self-learning, external trainings given by consultancy firms, meetings with the European commission… This is sometimes combined with mentoring or twinning schemes conceived and run by thematic NCP networks and the NCP Academy.
By sharing good practices and feedback from the field on NCP mentoring and twinning, we will get inspiration from each other and reflect on how to provide adequate support to newly appointed NCP’s, while providing a rewarding experience for all people involved. Mentors, mentees and organisers of such programmes will discuss aims, content, experiences, … and evolve toward shared practices and quality approaches.
Collective intelligence and interactive methods will be used: be ready to unplug and take an active part in the workshop!
Outcome for participants:
After the workshop, participants will have
o A better understanding of what “mentoring” and “twinning” means, why and how it works
o Increased their knowledge about good practises and implementation hurdles of mentoring and twinning schemes from various NCP networks
o A clearer picture of success factors, minimum requirements, variations in set-up and quality checks of mentoring and twinning schemes
o Explored potential cooperation paths for (future) NCP networks.
Who should attend?
A mix of NCPs involved in the design, execution and evaluation of mentoring and twinning schemes, and NCPs who have acted as mentor or mentee since the start of Horizon 2020.
