My experience under the Erasmus Entrepreneurs programme with Glynis Whiting, Managing Partner of TIAO, has been incredible until the date. Since the very first moment I realised I was in the correct place at the right time.
TIAO is a start-up that has develop a white-label platform for members of chamber of commerce. Along with Glynis, a team of huge professional with a large business and commercial background works to ensure the company makes a huge impact in the business field across Europe. The clients of TIAO are the so-called “umbrella organisations” of chambers of commerce: organisations that gather different chambers of commerce. An example of this could be COBCOE – the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe – that gathers most of the British chambers located in Europe. Currently, there are 11 networks (or chambers) members of COBCOE Connects, the name of the branded platform for COBCOE.
My role in the company is to help the team in developing new digital marketing tools and at the same time to approach Spanish speaking chambers of commerce that may wish to collaborate with TIAO to develop a customized platform for their members. During this time, I’ve been able to learn how to proceed with public organisations, how chambers help their members to do business abroad and about the process they are undertaking to become digital. In addition, it is being a very fruitful experience as I’m experiencing from inside how a start-up is born and developed: TIAO was launched earlier last year and it is growing rapidly.
I really appreciate the effort that Glynis, Joost and Nicolas have put in helping me to adapt to the company, to the team and to my role. As expected, I’m learning about what was established in my Erasmus Entrepreneurs project and very happy to have still one month left with this team.
About the programme, I have not had any incident so far but in every moment I feel I have my back covered by the Commission as well as by my local point in Valencia (Spain): luckily, everything is going as expected.
Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a cross-border exchange programme which gives new or aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to learn from experienced entrepreneurs running small businesses in other Participating Countries.
The exchange of experience takes place during a stay with the experienced entrepreneur, which helps the new entrepreneur acquire the skills needed to run a small firm. The host benefits from fresh perspectives on his/her business and gets the opportunities to cooperate with foreign partners or learn about new markets.
Do not hesitate to check our brochures here for more information about the programme in Brussels.
