15% of start-up creators in Europe are women. While this percentage is not high, the figure in the Brussels region goes even lower – 8%! But why do just a few women start a business? Among a number of reasons, there is the lack of access to finance and investment.
It is for this reason that NCP Brussels participates in a European project that is created especially in order to help women entrepreneurs to access EU funding.
The WE GROW project mentors, advises and assists women on the preparation of a competitive application for EU R&D funding for SMEs. This type of funding rewards between 0,5 and 2.5 million euros to SMEs developing disruptive technologies.
Women entrepreneurs who wish to apply to participate in the project, need to fill in this short survey.
In addition to this, in order to help these 8% and also to help this figure grow, hub.brussels hosts the platform Women in Tech. This is a community in which women active in technology gather, network and exchange in order to support each other. It also launches initiatives and connects entrepreneurs and other interested groups such as business angels. The platform celebrated its first birthday this week in the company of Minister Didier Gosuin, who endorses the platform. Only within one year the platform helped 2 000 women enterpreneurs in Brussels!
