SME Instrument: 2123 proposals seek funding under Phase 2

The European Commission received 2123 proposals for SME Instrument Phase before the latest cut-off date on 18 October 2017.

Small and medium-sized businesses that seek funding under the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument can receive from € 0.5 to € 2.5 million (and € 5 million for health projects) from the EU to co-finance up to 70% of their innovation project.

Most proposals were submitted in the topics ICT (480), followed by transport (219), energy and health (204 each). The largest number of proposals was submitted by Spanish applicants (338), followed by Italian (288) and British (173) applicants.

88% of applicants were single SMEs.

Results for this cut-off will be published around the beginning of December 2017.

The next cut-off for Phase 2 will be under the European Innovation Council Pilot on 10/01/2018.
